Hi! We’re Ms. S and Mr. P, an adventure team based in Seattle, Washington.

Like many people living in Seattle, I live in an apartment and am always looking for ways to get Mr. P outside to enjoy everything Washington has to offer. That inspired me to start exploring Washington’s state parks. One weekend at a time.

As I started planning our trips, I kept running into the same problem. Most camping recommendations focused on the same handful of popular parks, while it was surprisingly difficult to find reviews of places like Lake Sylvia or Millersylvania even though they’re about the same drive from Seattle and, in my opinion, every bit as enjoyable (if not better).

I also found it hard to answer practical questions like:

  • Is this campground actually worth the drive?
  • How private are the campsites?
  • Is it a good place to camp with a dog?
  • What are the bathrooms and showers really like?
  • What should I know before I book?

That’s why I started this blog.

Here you’ll find honest, firsthand reviews of our camping trips, including what the campgrounds are really like, whether they’re worth the drive from Seattle, what it’s like camping with a dog, and the tips I wish I’d known before packing the car. I also include objective observations that can help reactive dog owners make informed decisions based on the campground’s layout, activity level, and surroundings.

You’ll read about the good, the bad, and the unexpected. We intend to explore beautiful beaches and hidden trails to relentless mosquitoes, crowded campgrounds, and everything in between.

Whether you’re planning your first camping trip or looking for your next weekend escape, I hope these reviews help you spend less time researching and more time enjoying the outdoors.

Happy camping!
